Volunteer Roles

Breakout is a community of amazing gamers exploring and playing the greatest of what the tabletop gaming community has to offer. We couldn’t do that without your continuing support.

General Volunteers

Breakout would love to have you join our team to help the convention run smoothly. Duties might involve setting up rooms, working at the registration desk, facilitating the board game hall, or working in the indie book store.

If you are interested in volunteering at the registration table, RPG hall table, Boardgame hall table, Indie Book Store, Media / Panel rooms or for Post Convention Cleanup at Breakout, please fill out this form.

Board Games

Volunteer as a board game facilitator at Breakout. Board game facilitators host board game events, providing the game and teaching the game to new players. You may be a player in your games if you so choose. Your game event will have a reserved table in the board game hall and be posted on the schedule for sign ups.

Roleplaying Games

Breakout is proud to host one of the largest and most diverse collections of roleplaying events offered at any convention in Canada. We’re interested in everything ranging from classic, traditional systems to the newest games fresh on the market.

If you are interested in facilitating a roleplaying game at Breakout, please fill out this form.

Dungeons & Dragons Adventurers League

We are also excited to be hosting organized play events for Dungeons & Dragons Adventurers League. Organized play is awesome because it allows players to bring their characters from game to game throughout the convention, instead of only getting to play them once!

Badges for Volunteers

As in past years, Badges will be compensated depending on the number of games you facilitate. Games can vary in length, from two to four hours for roleplaying games and two to six for board games. Running game events totaling at least 12 hours of volunteering time will earn you a weekend pass. If you’re running less than four games, you will be given a pass for each day you facilitate 4 or more hours.

There is a limited number of spaces for game facilitators. Preference will go to volunteers participating in the organized play campaigns, and those offering to facilitate games that best fit our vision of the convention.

We would love to see a focus on new games, games with a strong tie to popular culture, and games designed by minorities and marginalized voices in the game design community.

If your game isn’t accepted, we will let you know by (Date TBA) so you will still have time to purchase a ticket before the early bird rate ends.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to participate.
